My Favourite Book-Movie Adaptations on PhotoPeach
So, you know how whenever a movie adaptation of a super famous book comes out, sometimes it disappoints the fans? *cough cough* Percy Jackson *cough cough*.
Well, this is a list that I made of my favourite movies and books that stuck mainly to the book and didn’t digress too much, while still being amazing movies, are interesting and inspire people who haven’t read the book to read the book.
1. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
The movie was exactly like the book, I love how Jennifer Lawrence portrays Katniss, Josh Hutcherson does Peeta, Sam Claflin does Finnick, Liam Hemsworth does Gale, Jena Malone does Johanna, Elizabeth Banks does Effie, Donald Sutherland does President Snow, Woody Harrelson does Haymitch, etc. You get it, I loved this movie and have watched it so many times. 10/10.
2. Divergent
I honestly think that they nailed casting. Shailene Woodley is perfect as Tris and, although I never liked the character Tobias to begin with, I thought that Theo James was pretty good at the positive ideas I had originally thought about Tobias’ good side.
3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
This basically means the whole Harry Potter movie series, the only reason I didn’t put them all on was because of how boring it would have been to sit through all 8 movie posters. This is a classic example of awesome British film and acting and directing and producing and cinematography and so many things, I just can’t believe it got like 12 Academy Award nominations. And zero wins. Great call, Academy. Great call.
4. The Help
I already mentioned this book in my previous post (a book tag), but for those who can’t be bothered to flick back, it’s about black housemaids in 1960s Jackson, Mississippi, when racial segregation was terrible. It’s about the maids (or the help) who write a book with a young white lady, about their lives and try and make a difference. It’s actually incredibly inspirational and a great book. As for what I loved about the movie, first, the costumes, 1960s wardrobe nailed, costume designers. Second, I reckon that all the casting was amazing, particularly Emma Stone as Skeeter, the white lady who writes the book, and Octavia Spencer as Minny, one of the sassy maids, and Viola Davis as Aibileen, the main character in the novel.
5. Mockingjay Part 1
Okay, okay. I know that this movie technically hasn’t come out yet. But fast-forwarding to November 21, it’s gonna be good. Very good. If it’s as good as Catching Fire and The Hunger Games, it’s going to be one of the best-selling box office successes ever. And if you haven’t seen the trailer now, see it.
6. The Maze Runner
I literally went to see this movie yesterday, not having read the book. So good was the plot in the movie, that I was driven to read the book between 7:00pm yesterday and 6:00pm today. And it’s quite big! Honestly, I thought that The Maze Runner movie adaptation, although it left out the telepathy thing, reasonably enough, it would have been hard to shoot, was overall true to the plot and the original idea was left intact, luckily. Also, Kaya Scodelario and Dylan O’Brien as Teresa and Thomas are great together!
7. The Devil Wears Prada
This is a great movie and book, and although there have been some minor glitches in the editing process and things I would have like to see kept, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway are overall so funny and perfect in their roles that I reckon this movie makes it into my 7 best book-to-movie adaptations!! I would definitely recommend the read!
